Early Treatment for Younger Children
Orthodontic treatment can be indicated for younger children in order to correct a bite or jaw issue which would benefit from early intervention. Early treatment is also a powerful option for treating children who are self-conscious or anxious about the appearance of their smile. This type of treatment is commonly referred to as Phase 1 or Interceptive Treatment.
Early treatment is not the same as full orthodontic treatment which means that treatment time is often shorter in length and more limited in its focus.
The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that children are evaluated by an orthodontist starting at age 7.
At Georgia Orthodontics & Children’s Dentistry, we are dedicated to making sure that all children start their lives with a healthy, happy smile so consultation with the orthodontist is always free. Whether your child needs early treatment or not, we’ll continue to monitor their growth and development into adolescence, all at no cost to you.
