Checkups & Cleanings

One of the most important aspects of maintaining your child’s dental health are regular checkups and cleanings.

Children should have regular dental exams every six months, starting at age 1. This allows our pediatric dentist to ensure that your child’s teeth are healthy and identify any issues as soon as they begin. If cavities are identified early, our pediatric dentist can show you where they are located and sometimes prevent these teeth from requiring treatment. If treatment is required, they may only require very conservative restorations. We will also be able to monitor the growth and development of your child’s teeth. If any orthodontic issues are identified, our orthodontist will be able to treat them early to ensure they always have a beautiful smile!

Cleanings are also important, both for young children who are still learning how to properly maintain their dental hygiene and for older kids who may not prioritize brushing their teeth. For children who are in orthodontics, more frequent cleanings every 3 months are also beneficial to maintaining the health of their teeth and gums. Our hygiene team will teach both parents and children how to properly care for their teeth at home to maintain their healthy, beautiful smiles!

Cavity Prevention With Fluoride Treatments

Fluoride is one of the best treatments to prevent tooth decay, especially for children. Fluoride helps strengthen the outer enamel of teeth, making them more resistant to developing cavities. It is also inexpensive and non-invasive. Keeping your child’s teeth free of cavities can help improve their overall health and appearance. At Georgia Orthodontics & Children’s Dentistry, we offer fluoride treatments as part of our preventative pediatric dentistry options for patients to protect their teeth from decay.

Dental X-Rays

Radiographs, or x-rays, are an integral part of our pediatric dental examination in order to see what is not visible to the eye. Some of these areas include in between the teeth and below the gum tissue surfaces. Dental x-rays are used to help identify cavities or tooth decay. They can also bring to light other health and orthodontic issues which can then be treated early and effectively.

State-of-the-Art Dental Imaging for Children

Our team at Georgia Orthodontics & Children’s Dentistry uses the latest in digital radiograph technology to get the highest quality imaging using the lowest amount of radiation exposure for our young patients. Advances in dental imaging have made obtaining the x-rays we need to treat your child’s dental concerns faster and safer, with very little exposure to any harmful radiation. Our state-of-the-art equipment has a small focal point with high resolution to get the detailed image needed, with much less radiation exposure than a standard body x-ray.

As part of our dedication to your child’s health, our team at Georgia Orthodontics & Children’s Dentistry only use the safest techniques and technology when obtaining dental images through x-rays. To learn more about our policies and procedures for dental x-rays, contact our office today.

I was skeptical about going back into braces. Since this was my second round, I wanted something fast and affordable. I met with Dr. Patel and he was fantastic! He gave me different options, he was very detailed and he answered all my questions.

Highly recommend Milton Dental Specialists!! They were so sweet to my daughter and took extra time and effort to make her enjoy her experience and be comfortable! As a parent this is much appreciated! My daughter left smiling and excited to have her teeth cleaned. Thank you Dr. Chong and Renal!

An inviting waiting room with the front desk staff greeting me with a smile. Staff was very educated answering as many questions as possible since it was my first consultation for orthodontic help. Dr. Patel was VERY personable giving me all of the options for a plan of action the crowding of my teeth, and gave me all the information (time length, issues to be concerned with, financial differences) to help me choose the best plan for me. His details helped me to feel very comfortable with having to get braces as a female post 25+ years. I definitely recommend him as an orthodontist in the Milton/ North Atlanta area if you are looking for one. Best thing is that the first consultation was absolutely free!

Very happy with Milton Demtal Specialists. Having a dentist and orthodontist in one location makes dental exams easy while wearing braces. They have great hours and are very accommodating for kids in school who don’t want to miss school for orthodontic or dental work. Very happy with both the dentist and orthodontist.
